I posted this in the owner's forum, but since it's really a Mercury question I figured I'd try again here.
I'm learning the new (to me) boat, '07 35 Lightnin w/staggered 600 SCi power, and it has the Smartcraft System View Monitor. It's not acting the way I think it ought to in that no matter what button I press, it reverts back to the drive position screen with the two propellers on a vertical scale. I called Mercury and described the unit, at which point the rep told me I had the SC5000 System View Monitor - not the newer color Vessel View unit (mine is a monochromatic display with four arrow buttons and one home button). I was able to download a manual for it, but the screens in the manual aren't what I have - which a little further research tells me I have the Race Edition software. He also went on to tell me the System View units are considered obsolete by Mercury and they no longer support them... Go figure.
I can't find a System View Race Edition manual anywhere online - can someone point me in the right direction to get my hands on one or offer any advice on what I'm doing wrong? I'm new to the Smartcraft monitors and don't have any literature to refer to at all, so I'm thinking this is most likely user error.
Thanks!

That is for the '07 5000. I'm not sure what extra the race software adds but that link will hopefully get you started.

Bottom right click on "Operation and Maintenance Manual" and then on right side click on "All", drop down menu pops up and go to "Smartcraft".

Looks like I'm not alone; misery loves company...
I'm going to call Mercury today and hit them up again; if I get my hands on it I'll let everyone know how to get it. Otherwise, I have seen the manual for sale a couple of different places online and although I don't want to have to pay for it as a matter of principle since all the other manuals are availble free I may just have to bite the bullet. If I do, I'll scan it for use by my fellow boat brethren. Additional details to follow...
