Default testing props on 18ft donzi classic chime in!

here are 3 left hand props

S&S cleaver 14x21p left
nybral 15x22p center
elephant ear 14 1/2 x 24p right

my current prop is a aluminum 14x23p
im hitting 53 mph @5000-5200 rpm's on gps

Would I get any speed increase going to a lower pitched prop even though its stainless(I know it takes more power to turn a stainless) wouldnt a 2 pitch drop make the props about even?

I wanted to get the cleaver but I hear they are for stern lift and they keep the bow down.
has anyone used a cleaver on there 18' classic? how did it work??

the other two props are bronze and I could only see going with the 14 1/2x24p elephant ear, do you guys think I would gain any speed withthis prop?

do any of you guys think that the 22p nybral would work?

I can only test one prop so Im sort of SOL
by looking at them what prop do you guys think I should try out.

I can try the others but I have to try them one at a time...

thanks for any advice and info

The one in the center looks like it belongs on an inboard.
One on the right (big ears) has no provision for exhaust, unless you have thru hull exhaust.
Not sure about the cleaver.

You know what? IMHO you should be looking at a Mirage or Mirage Plus, Laser II or similar.
That big ear prop is going to take a lot of HP to turn it. Besides it looks like it's designed for slow rpm turning.
The cleaver may make you boat hard to handle at speed.
Just my .02.

Iggy,
He has a Volvo out drive.

I have tried the Prop in the center on my 18 they work ok
The big ear works the best because of the bow lift.

I've never tied the cleaver.

I`ve owned many Donzi classics over the years and the Volvo "ULTRA" series props seem to work the best for me.
My last 18 2+3 with a mild 350 and Volvo 280T drive ran a 14x26 stainless at around 5200 rpm.

I never really knew how fast that boat went. The speedo on that boat would only go to 50 and stop.

I had a '72 Sutphen 18 footer with a 340 Mopar (370HP) and a Volvo drive. I had Spinelli Bros. make a 26 pitch 3 blade that worked great. I think it was a Mercury style prop and they pressed a Volvo spline and rubber hub into it. I know that Spinelli's retired but someone can surely make one for you

GEOO on this board had removed his volvo speedmaster unit and replaced it with Arneson. He probably has some props from the volvo. and some test data too.
