Default Adding a fuel press regulator

I'm installing mechanical fuel pumps that deliver 14-16 psi. Need a fuel press regulator.
Looking at a Aeromotive 13215.
Inlets and outlets use 3/8" NPT.
Is the 3/8 NPT the right size for 1/2" fuel line??
Will this regulator supply enough fuel for 500HP?

Another option is to Tee-in a bypass check-valve to the pump outlet line.
Can the bypass be routed back to pump inlet? Would the fuel get too hot?
I don't really want to install a return line back to tank unless I have to.

Any other options I should be considering?

Thx in adv!
