Do you have strainers? Possibly plugged or a shutoff valve before the pump that may have been partially closed? Or as stated above parts of old impelled blocking a cooler but if it just started acting up i doubt. One other place to look would be if you have low water pickups, I've seen wood/debris cause a blockage.

Check your exhaust riser water passages if your exhaust was getting hot & water was not flowing equally from each pipe the risers could be plugged up & that will make it run hot. Just a thought Randy

Change it while its out and look for any wear on plate. I lost water pressure once pulled the impeller, looked fine but put a new one in and had pressure.

I also had a small water flow issue on start up this passed spring out of the star side manifold. I was able to just pintch/squeez the the hose going to the good side off/on, off/on, off/on. Causing all the all the pressure to go the the side with a little less flow, and that it self made all debris to loosen up and spit out the exhaust. Now both side have plenty of flow.

Buy the kit that includes the plastic housing and wear plate and impeller.
