casue to me looks like a sensor issue. |
Not sure what the elaboration was but the sensor cap can also be a problem. The wiring in it is weak and an open/broken/intermittent wire results in a stuck high sea pump pressure reading. You can check this using a multi-meter at the computer end of the wiring harness.

I have 2 new sensors and plan to install both today and see if this corrects both sides, and they read the same then.

Not the pump to outdrive hose. The hose from inner transom assy to gimbal housing. See pic item # 15,16 & 20, the hose will be swollen before the insert. It will allow enough water flow to cool temporarily but will quickly set the low pressure alert.

I appropriate al help and ideas for sure.
But i think and hope its just a sensor problem, considering I am showing 37psi, and good cooling just have a intermittent code pop up. If there was a blockage, I would think the PSI would be a solid problem. not sometimes only. |
Replaced both, and rescanned without them running.
Starboard read 0.3 psi sitting steady Port read 40-43 psi. bouncing... With it not running. Replaced both with new. Both read 0.7 psi not running, and sitting steady. If you un plug them the reading rolls up over the coarse of 3-5 seconds to 43.4 then sits steady unplugged Test drive Saturday for a 60 mile run. |
It's easy for one of the two wires in the cap that plugs into the sensor to seperate and lose electrical connection or have intermittent connection, especially when running. It will then throw a highpressure alarm, the same as an unplugged condition. I've seen it happen on at least two 496's.You end up needing to splice in a new sensor cap at the pump end of the harness.
