Good evening to everyone looking for some guidance in replacing a inert transom plate on a baja 235 with an alpha one,the inner plate is cracked at the steering bolt will I have to remove the engine to replace the transom plate or just the alpha ?

Check for flatness of the transom alot of times the transom is not flat and thats what causes them to break. Hope it's not in need of a new transom.

No what causwd the break was a bad steering cable and the wheel was forced causing the crack at the join

I changed mine without removing the engine. The engine did need to be un bolted and jacked around to get the job done, and it was a PITA, but I got it done. Mine has through hull exhaust only.
