Default HP500EFI and HP525EFI engine life

What kind of hours are most people typically getting from HP500EFI or HP525EFI before a major overhaul is needed ? I see lots of boats for sale with 450-500 hrs on these engines. I have never seemed to be able to get that many hours without some pretty good work. I thought at about 250-300hrs either one might need rockers and lifters and maybe much more. Am I just unlucky ?

I just turned 500 hours on my 500s this weekend. Had a valve job and springs before i bought it at 250 hrs. Still sound healthy don't burn a drop of oil and run 60-70psi oil pressure all day long. They're getting rebuilt this winter for piece of mind and some extra ponies while im at it. At a 125 hours a year on average i don't wanna push them too far.
