Hello all... well it's time I take my prop off and I have no idea what kind of lock, etc. was used. (I bought it as is)

How do I remove the prop? This doesn't look like a McGard prop lock does it? Any help would be appreciated!

Looks like a McGard to me.

your going to have to either cut the outer ring off with a cut off wheel or torch to access the center nut...or see if you can get it hot enough to squeeze it to loosen the center nut..but be careful not to hurt the prop shaft seal..

Another thing you can do is get a cheap china 12 point socket to just fit the inside of the sleeve and pound it over the inner locking nut..

You could also try jb welding the inner to the outer and twist it off

How wide is it, I'm thinking maybe a wheel lock remover?

I've had luck using a socket of the appropriate size and grind it down to leave a couple of tabs that will engage the prop lock recesses(basically making a lock key). Usually all you need is a couple of tabs to be able to get it loose.

Cut notches a 1/4" down on opposite sides of the outside part, then use a hammer and chisel to split it

If you have a large marine facility near you, they probably have all the McGuard keys. They've been down this road before.
If you have a little bit clearer picture of it, you can send it McGuard and they can send you a key.

I like the JB Weld trick, never heard of that one.

A coupe of long cuts down the outside of it, and it should split open like a taco.
