Post Fresh water coolant sysytem

Can anybody help my buddy out. He is wanting to put some Vortec 800 SC motors in his boat. The problem is they have alum. heads and he and I are worried about the salt water he would be running in.

Hello Mike,

After reading about salt water eating alum. heads, do you know what it would cost to put fresh water cooling on apair of 800 sc. Would i have enough room in my engine compartment to install system. From my back seat to the front of engines i have 10-12".

I would guess by the time you are said and done you would be looking at around 1500 a motor. They can mount at the back of the engine or the front. Looks like with the Pro Charger you would have a hard time with them up front. However you are saying you would be swapping to a different motor. But then you will have the Blower belt, so the issue is still there. My guess is you would have to get creative with maybe mounting the tank to the back of the seat or something. If you can try and find one that will go on the back of the motor btwn the exhaust.

Default These are not his motors but...

they will be just like these in the picture above. They are going in a 36 Outlaw.
These motors are 502's with 8.8 comp. around 570 lift with Vortech superchargers, ProCharger intercoolers, alum heads.
