Default Electric Trim Gauge not working

I recently had a new engine and transom assembly installed, and the trim gauge pin was broken at the same time of installation while wiring everything back up.... I just purchased a new faria trim gauge to replace the old one, but the gauge needle is pegged in the up position, and when I turn the ignition on the needle it is pegged to the down position until I turn the ignition off and it returns to the up position, but with no movement at all while trimming in and out, any suggestions..

thks much

if it pegs the guage when the ign is turned on, sounds like either the wire from the sender is grounding somewhere of the trimsender is bad.

They had to remove it to replace the transom assembly. It sounds like it is just not adjusted propely. You will have to loosen the two screws on the sender, right side of drive, and slowly rotate it until the gage moves to the correct spot. sometimes you have to remove the sender completely from he side and rotate it a tooth or two so the mounting screws will line up. usually takes to people to properly set up and very little rotation to move the needle. Sounds like yours is set to full up.

The sender has a couple of marks on the inside that must be lined up to have the gauge read correctly. This must be done before bolting the sender onto the gimbal ring.
