Hi!
I trust you all are well.
Number 4 injector has been leaking and due to this the plug has fauled. New injector installed some few days ago, and everything was fine. Went out today and after 20 mins driving the sound of the engine changed. Checked the engine at idle, everything was fine. However, when I tried to get pass 4000 rpms to 4500 rpms, the engine hesitated. I then stopped and the engine vibrated and made violent sounds. Drove 2 mins in 600 rpms to land (happily it was inshore...), and the boat was brought to my dealer by trailer shortly after. The engine will be looked at tomorrow.
The number 4 plug has aluminium on it. Everyone else is just fine - tan and clean. My dealer thinks it is a sticked piston ring due to excessive fauling caused by the bad injector. I have done full service every 50 hrs on the engine.
If the piston has to be replaced with a new one and the cylinder honed/bored, (it will be done at a professional shop in my town) will the engine be as before (horsepower, longvity, etc)? Something I should be aware of?
I look forward to hearing back from you.
The sun is shining, and its bad to be grounded!
Cheers and thanks, Toffen
