Default FBI virus

Friend of mine brought me his computer with it on it. It kicks me out of safe mode. I can get it to stay in safe mode with command prompt. What command do I enter to get it to play a repair program installed on a CD. I need the prompt to run the CD drive.
HELP

If this is the virus im thinking of, you have to somehow boot in safe mode. Then you have to run antivirus (Sophos) off a usb drive. The virus lives in your RAM, so you can not get ahead of it. It loads before your operating system does. Good luck, it took me a few days to get all that figured out and delete the virus.

You can boot into safe mode with command prompt. Once the black dos box appears type explorer. This will open up a windows explorer. From there you can right click on "Computer" and manage. Basically you need to create another administrator account. Once you have created the new user account log in as that user. You can then run the restore utility or repair from there. The "FB Virus" is installed and run on a local user account not for "all users". Its actually a funny little virus and pretty slick in that it will activate th web cam and take a picture of you and use it in the stupid little pop up screen. PM me if you need more details. I have delt with this and many other ones as I am a systems analyst at a failry large steel manufacturing facility in the Detroit Metro area...

Thanks - I got it fixed, I used one of my Windows 7 OS discs. Booted the computer from that - That allowed me to get into repair mode and remove the virus.
I keep telling him to update his OS and anti-virus. He never does.
Thanks for the help.

The best way for "your friend" (wink, wink) to avoid the FBI virus and similar viruses, is to stop surfing "free" porn...

Or at least make sure you have a good software firewall in place like Zone Alarm Extreme Internet Suite.
