22 ft 88 avanti can it handle a 1000 hp?
I have a 88 22 avanti I mean banna boat I mean pantera, I was woundering if anyone has any info on if this hull can handle a 1000 hp mated to a ASD8, Just a project I'm thinking about doing the boat means a lot to me and re-sale isn't any consideration. If this is possible what kind of top end would i expect to see, I have LOTO shootout in the back of my mind so this wouldn't be your familys boat. No stress cracks and the hull has never been thrashed just un-sure about the materials used at the NJ location back in 88 so don't want to build a lemon. The Donzi Might Mouse is a personal hero and really sparked this thought thanks for any input I know the bad reputation so just keeping things technical would be awesome thanks guys.

In all seriousness.. The Avanti has a much higher cg than the other 22's challenger, apache etc...also a deeper V. The Avanti is better in the rough. The bottom will need some work, they are a tad bit wavey. In my opinion your trying to do the wrong thing with it. drop in a 500 or 525 on a bravo shorty, Put some decent seats in it and make it a sit down, some good tabs and you will surprise a lot of people with it and have a lot of fun.

Lol, that's actually the number I had in mind between 120-130 mph, I know its gambling but like I said not gonna be a family boat at all ill be the only one in it for those kind of runs, just don't want a failure because of hull intergrity if that's even a slight possibility ill pick a different hull just curious cause I love the boat and how it handles

I own a 100mph 272 Baja, above 80 you need to really respect it, above 95 mph it becomes VERY dangerous and I keep it propped to run to low to mid 90's. As far as a 22 FT Avanti running 120-130 mph, it would be GREAT to see someone ELSE do it but in all seriousness at those speeds I would be pretty certain something VERY bad would happen in the course of a few runs and you would end up flipping it, stuffing it, rolling it, being ejected, broken neck, etc either dead or in a wheel chair, fun idea that should probably NOT come to fruition unless you are already terminally ill and going to be dead soon anyways, just my opinion, Smitty

Good luck over 90. There is a 22 Avanti kevlar hull floating around where I boat with a 1000 hp blower motor. I talked to the owner about it b4... He said at 90 it has alot more in it but the boat is all over the place.

You are going to run out of hull before motor on that boat.

To even think about putting a 1000hp in a 1988 boat that was designed to go maybe 70 mph is crazy.
