ran my 500hp without a stat and bypass, never got over 100, switched to bypass and 140 stat, ran 150 after that...helps burn off condensation in the oil...you could run a thermostat on the oil cooler as well...

Get the bypass ones. It gives you the option to run the thermostat. Even if you choose not to, you can just plug it.

What is the difference in them? What do the ones with the bypass look like compare to the other ones?

It has a fitting on the top to add a fitting for a hose that would run to top of thermostat housing, still looks clean..

i run cross overs on mine and inorder to get the temperature i want i used a ss washer to act like a restrictor insted of a thermostat. Thus holding water in the block longer to gain temperature. After experimenting with sizes i got it right on the money.
