i was gonna say it isn't really skilled labor. it is a lot of work, and if somebody has done a couple it might be a decent side line. 1 or 2 transoms a winter. ok, the wood rots. why do we always put wood back? is there no alternative? star board? pre-made fiberglass sheets? HDPE? styrofoam? anything??!!

The transom seems fine and the stringers inside the engine compartment seem ok also. It's the stringers in the cockpit that have rotted because some jackass
at some point over the years cut the floor out along the stringer on both sides with a skill saw.

Depends how much further the stringers run under whatever that black thing that your standing on is, and if the bulkheads were installed before glass and the rot has spread to any more of the structure.
That's a pretty easy job if it stayed in those stringers, two days if you like to take your time, a long day if you work on it pretty steady. If it migrated to other areas, then the scope of work will change and it could get more time consuming.

If you do have someone do it just make sure they are not hacks. Everyone thinks they are glass guys because they go to oreillys and buy their crap. I just seen a transom yesterday that a well known guy at lake of ozarks did and I would be embarassed to give that to customer and not to mention charge 9tnousand for it. I can't stress enough just be careful. If you want to do yourself and just stringers I'm sure we can walk you through it.

I wonder if they cut the floor at some point to replace the fuel tank? I know the fuel tank was replaced on my 82 Excalibur Hawk before I bought it. I dont know what it came with as far as a fuel tank from day one, but when i got it, it had 2 front 50 gallon tanks, and two rear 50 gallon tanks. It had a selector switch on the dash, to select from front to rear. I remember hearing the Excaliburs had fuel tank issues back in the day.
