Raw Water Pump
#1
I'm running a set of 365 Mags/Bravos.Well they used to be 365's!
I want to replace the hose that runs from the raw water pump to the cooler.
I have Gil mounts up front and don't like the way the Merc hose fits.I was wondering if anyone has used a hose other than the $50 Merc replacement?
Can regular heater hose be used or would the bends be too sharp? What length do I need?
Thanks,
Dennis

Dennis,
Go to Auto Zone and ask to look at a good Year hose book. In the back of the book there is a picture section showing different pre shaped hoses. There were like 20 different 1 1/4 " hoses listed. Auto Zone has everyone else killed on hose prices. Napa wanted 19.00 for a hose that cost $6.00 at AZ. You may need to use two or three hoses to get the shape you want. McMaster Carr sells thin wall stainless tube you can use for unions. There are PVC unions available at Ace Hardware that would work also.

Audiofn,
It's not the $50 x2 that I'm worried about.
The hoses have been replaced with Merc hoses the last time I went through the engines.
What I was looking for is maybe a corrigated type hose that could be routed a little better than the OEM.
Anybody done that?
Time.......I always have time for my baby!

The corrogated hoses are a bad idea. They IMO are for emergency fixes only. The side walls are very thin on them and they have a tendence to rupture.
