Roots Blower fuel distribution

an 8,71 with a pair of holley 750 to 950 carbs mounted sideways will distribute the air/fuel fairly evenly in a low boost engine and as mild mentioned we usually run the blower stuff a little on the rich side so it,s really not an issue.on the higher boost deals such as blown alcohol or top fuel cars they run high helix rotors and the cases have a delta opening that is located near the front of the blower and that causes the front cylinders to be leaner than the rear ones because it is easier to flow the air to the cylinders closest to the blower opening.the next time you go to the drag strip take a look at the position of the blower on the intake manifold and you will notice that they sit way back and have a long snout to compensate for the setback.this is done in an attempt to get all the cylinders tuned evenly.remember they are not allowed to use efi and do use mechanical injection.when they moved the blowers back the elapsed times were quicker due to the more even air/fuel ratio to all the cylinders.

Mike and Mild, thats pretty much in line with what I was thinking. Ive been around a few blown alcohol motors and the blowers have been set back for as long as I remember. The reasoning I was told was everything from fuel distribution to clearence issues to we've always run them this way, Lol. I knew I wasnt the only one to ever question this. Thanks guys!
