Default Trim pump tech

I have read on here that trim pumps have a valve that can be adjusted to make them move fluid faster or slower for a given application. Can trim pumps for an alpha set up be used for other applications such as K planes or trim rams on TRS or Arneson drives? These would be gen 1 versions. Randy
