Default 500 Efi in salt water????

In the next couple of months I will be putting my Freash water baby in the ocean. What should I do to prevent rust/corrosian. Right now I have the low water pick ups.

Should I get a water exchange unit put in?

Or just flush after ever use?

Should I be worried about the drive, prop,K-planes???

All advise is greatly appreciated,

WILL

All you sweetwater guys are such sissies... just kidding.

All my boats have been in salt, just make sure you flush it and spray it down - you shoudl really do this in fresh water too. WD-40 dousing is always a good thing. I would recommed mercathode for those boats that live inthe salt.

use Salt away it works, flush the engines and drives with this stuff, then spray it on anything else that you would like to protect, used it on jet ski's that were used in the salt, had one that I would pull the engine down on, and it was clean, clean , clean on the inside, i also know of a boat builder that uses salt away on his engines and they have aluminum heads you know what salt does to aluminum, well he say's the stuff works also. you can buy this stuff at West Marine

H2XMark;

I never heard of Salt Away.. Is it a liquid? How is it sold?? Gallon, squirt bottle, or what? I am always in salt also. I run closed cooling, but I am always up to try something new to beat the salt.

27Fountain;

My boat is 2 years old. It has always been used in salt water. Although it doesn't stay in the water ( I have indoor rack storage ) it still looks like the day I got it from the dealer. It gets washed off after every use, I have never had a salt related problem. But, as I stated above, the motor is fresh water cooled.

Here's a link for more info on Salt-Away. I got my boat new in May 2002 and have used it in the ocean several times. I use Salt Away to flush the motor and wash the boat each time out and think that it still looks new. I have the mixer unit that attaches to the hose and mixes the salt away with the fresh water for flushing and washing.
