Does the engine run fine ? try unpluging the MAP sensor and reconnecting it

If you guys can tell me why the Check Engine Light is illuminated on my neighbor's Toyota, I'll tell you why your PCM is beeping.
It's pretty much a futile effort to try and diagnose these things sans Diacom software, Rinda Scanner, or SmartCraft gauges.
It could be an IAC, but I strongly suggest getting it scanned or acquiring a scanner. It's the best $500 you will spend on your boat. Split/share the costs with your neighbors/buddies, or rent your scanner out to recoup costs.

One of the worst things you can do now is keep running with an active fault / alarm. Could be water pressure low and or sensor shorted or bad. A scan without a doubt is needed. IAC is a huge problem for most MPI Merc as well. Again a diagnostic scan will determine or least point you in the direction of what area needs attention.
