So Cujo, whats the plan of attack?

Its always nice when we spend some time giving advice, and seeing where it goes or if it helps.

Mild Thunder
I have 525sc's on my formula 336
I had one carb rebuilt ( gasket set) due to a leak inteh flaot gasket and the mechanic replaced the "shaved " float because it had come apart somewhat. he installed a stock full size float
was the floats shaved in this application for marine? or the engine install angle???. He said he saw this on drag racing setups before to not starve the jets during acceleration.
what is the proper float
this carb has rich stalled the engine a couple times at idle now
was this a fix by the previous owner, or something dominator did
of course i have not done the obvious of checking the other engine carb

thanks

I do not recall the 525SC carbs having notched floats in them. AS a matter of fact, the mounting pad for the carb, on the blower, already has an angle on it, that puts the carb in a better position/angle from what I recall. Either float design will work though.

the notched floats were used in the secondarys only, when jet extensions were installed..maybe somebody just stuck one in they had laying around or all they could find at the time...and back to original question..yes jets way down from factory 525's...I have never heard much about boost referencing 4500 carbs..maybe they do or they may see the vacuum signal different than 4150 type carbs which do need to be boost referenced most of the time...

Chances are that if you have a 4500 carb(s) - you won't have enough restriction to cause vacuum under it during boost.

I don't remember notched floats on the 525SC Dom's either.
