Cord,
I wondered what the difference was. I plan on getting a 4150, just not sure if a 750 or 800 is best for me. I want it to run strong but, I also want it to run clean and smooth at idle and cruise. Don't know if an 800 will do that. ????
Are you coming to the races next weekend? Hope to see you then. I should have my boat ready so I can watch from the water. I am going to fire up the old 454 today that I put back in the boat while the 502 is getting repaired.
See ya, Doug

I would think the 800 would have an acceptable idle. You'll proably never know the difference.
We are planning on making the race. It was our hope to take the ferry over and have somebody pick us up, but it's not working out. Taking a car over is very expensive.

First avoid using any 830 carburetors when possible. An 830 is a "rules" designed carburetor. For Nascar, or Trans-am. It is an 850 main body with a 750 baseplate on it to restrict the air flow. Running a larger venturi with a smaller butterfly does not atomize the fuel as well as a carburetor with a smaller venturi and a larger buterfly.
Think of it this way would you rather have a real big intake, and tiny heads, or a smaller intake and bigger heads ? Honestly neither, but the later is the better of the two.

Apache 22,
I don't remember who I talked to but, he did say they don't recommend them. Hmm. Maybe because they are on backorder and he wanted to sell me something else? What kinda salesman would ever do such a thing? LOL.

I just called both Holley and Teague, here is the story from each:
Holley, yes a 830 is 850 body with 750 baseplate, but many carb sizes are reached in that matter and if they thought there was a flow problem they wouldn't offer it. in my application lightwight boat 468 cube - 5,600 rpm the 830 would offer more top end than the 750
Teague (Mike) the 830 is great carb and they sell alot of them, he's sees no negative aspects to the 830 and they use alot of them on engines they build
