Default what is wrong with 2.5 liter merc efis?

installed 5-6 engines all with lots of problems.
-light boats
-all kinds of props
-octane boosters
-xtra electric fuel pumps

but still running around 5300rpm's

what is wrong .I am in serious confusion?!?

What make props are you running, also pitch and diameter. Is the engine a 2.5 race?. What type of boat size weight, x- dimention give me as much data as possible

24 catamaran ( skater-copy-bottom)
1800 lbs full weight (liquid)
race type efi engines (8200 rpm )
mercury props
4 blades-3 blades
clevers etc.... all combinations

If they are new the ecu has a programed break in limiting the r's

Sounds exactly like the break-in on the ECU is holding you back. Need to run for something like 8 hours with a load to get them to run up on the rpm. Hot looking boat! You will probably like the boat much better with two of those 280's on the back. One outboard on a 24' boat will be sluggish.

does ecu have to be reprogrammed after 8 hours or it does it by itself?


dear brad:manufacturer of these 24' boats is not a very intelligent man.he doesnt like boats as he likes cash(low quality material).these boats have colorful paints and hi-speed look thats all.

before understanding this we have installed twin efi's and the boat is somewhere under the-marmara-sea now...
I just put the image to take more attention for thread.we no longer put these engines to this manufacturers boat.

Timucin, The break-in phase is automatic. You don't need to do anything but burn gas.
