Dam!, You are all hating on this guy! He wants to build his own trailer and asking for ideas and tips. If he has the ability and resources, more power to him. Time>money.

He didnt ask where should he have a new trailer built or ordered.

A help full tip might be to google simler boats and look at images of there trailers.

Im thinking trip axel, 10" box tubing with possable supports . Bending the center cross beams I think will be a tricky task.

If you are going to do it out of box beam look at buying stainless steel for your beams. I have built 2 trailers and bought all stainless 4 by 4 for my beams and stainless 3 by 3 for me to build my own torsion bar axles for my 3rd build.

I have Rocket right down the road and get great prices on parts from them but i still hate the way they weld on spindles or the plate for the torsion axles after they are galvanized as this is where they will rust and fail after a few years.

And I highly recommend doing only torsion bar axles.

92nsx- I am not hating on this guy. What I am trying to convince him building your own trailer is NOT EASY nor necesarily safe. If he gets a quote he is at least informed what a high quality trailer costs. Then he can make an informed decision. He may have the skills- he certainly hasn't convinced us on this forum he has them.

I will also play devils advocate here.. What happens when some idiot cuts him off on the highway and his trailer fails due to inadequate structure and someones family is endangered by this??? Is that smart?

He probably should start with 10" Alumunim I beams and go from there if he decides to build his own.

Ok I'm outta this thread..

Calm down there guys lol. I appreciate everyone comments, good or bad. Keeps me on my toes on what I need to keep in mind while building this thing. I made up a set of plans for this boat and showed them to a friend who builds trailers. Got a thumbs up from him so ill be building soon. I am going to go with 10" I beam an start there.
