Another newbie prop question

I bight a 33 eliminator that will run 150 with the props on it. A few on here know the boat and one guy called it the death trap because that's how he felt about it and he knew the original owner when he rode in it. The boat turns 36 props and at 3100 rpm the boat cruises at 95-100. Here's the deal I can take the motor to 6800 rev is at 7400. I don't need that or to do 150 right now . I'm still learning the boat and actually gonna meet up with brad schoenwald in August. I broke a propshaft on an sc on Saturday and I'm putting the huge shafts in this week. But here's he question. Stepping down in props pitch on this boat will it help the drives take some load off. I was thinking goin 34 or 33 and if I want it on kill I can switch to my 36. Thx
