Isn't there a bolt that screws in the fromt of the block where the fuel pump pushrod is and goes clear through into that cavity

Dpad 08-12-2014 01:09 PM

no electric and the way its wired is nuts they have the hot on the postive side of the oil pressure switch on that back of the block so once its see pressure it kicks on and builds about 12 psi there is no bypass on the fuel back o the tank not sure if the carb can hold back fuel so having it running when the motor is not is not a good idea plus if you loose oil pressure it will kill the full pump is that the idea behind this setup

It's a safety item to kill the pump with loss of oil psi. So, that part's fine.

Well, you may have inavertently told us why your engine is being washed down with fuel and why it doesn't like to idle at normal speeds.

And that is, the 12 psi fuel psi !

If there is no regulator before the carb reducing this psi, then here is your Golden Egg. Or, the one in sight anyway.

12 psi will flood an unmodified carb, your pressure should be 6-7 lbs max

Ok the carb is a 850 double pump what should the fuel pressure be for the carb and motor to work the best i can add the reg in line not a big deal

Wobble, Yup, that's exactly what I'm saying.

To everyone including OP:

Earlier in the thread he wrote that his oil smelled 'bad' of gas.

Then he wrote the oil looked horrible and they changed it.

Then later he wrote the engine wouldn't idle under 1100rpm.

We are on to something, and let the lesson be to others needing help that they need to include as much info as possible along with actually checking a lot of things and reporting findings...as this gentlemen did.

Too many people say something like "I have no oil psi, what do you think happened ?" or "My engine won't start..what do you think it is ?"

What is the best psi to run on the fuel system at the carb with out straving the motor when running at 2500 or better

is there a inline reg i can install to get the pressure correct

i been told by a shop that each gauge brand needs there own sending unit based on they the mfg makes there product boat has gaf rig in it is that true, if so we where given an off the shelf sending unit from a parts store that states they do marine work LOL

Wobble answered your question - 6-7 lb max.

Dpad 08-12-2014 03:20 PM

by the way all the info and feed back has made a world of differant thank you if i havent said that all ready

Dpad 08-12-2014 03:22 PM

thanks missed that
