Did you guys set up your boxes yet??? Or have you not had time to play with them?
If so lets see your mapping/curves. I have not played with my MSD's yet.

We played with idle timing and the carbs last weekend but didn`t have a map to upload Getting someone to help you with a base map is like pulling teeth. No one seems to want to help. Joe ended up making one from scratch and I feel it`s right on the money, guess we`ll see. I`m going to put a ETG gauge in my new exhaust to help with timing tuning.. if I ever get my exhaust back

BTW, the Quickfuels are pretty much right on the money out of the box idle wise.. after messing around with em we went right back to stock settings. Love those things!

Default Thanx for sharing Steve

Steve whats your combo, engine, boost etc?
We were going to run a bit more timing at idle (around 22*) I did like the idle at 15* (clean exhaust) but just wasn`t sure if that going to die when in gear.
My max is 6-7 psi and our map has all the timing back in @ 6000 (35*) You seem to run a bit less timing @ 28*
The danger zone is max tq and high load, for me that`s 4400-4500
At 3psi we`re at 30/31 you`re at 32*
At 6psi we`re at 28/30 you`re at 30*
You`re running a bit more timing at 0"

It`s all pretty close except WOT.

I`m hoping the EGT gauge is going to tell me what the engine likes.

Thanks for sharing your info:
My specs are: 540 alum Donovan block Dart alum heads / hydraulic roller / 2x 8082-3 1050 doms still dialing in on LM-2 / 14-71 / 6% UD ~7-8 boost (haven't held it WO long enough to see max!) / Boat is a light 24' CAT HTM SS-24

Before the DS box, I had changed my dist. from locked to centrifugal advance so I could reduce timing and idle speed. Locked at 32º with carbs closed idled too high. Once I backed timing down to 17º at idle and 35º all in ~2800 the idle tamed down and the surge became a very lazy 850-1100 RPM that I could easily shift on the down side. Once shifting the XR, idle in gear dropped to a nice smooth 700ish w/o dying going into gear. This is why I plan to start w/ 15º at idle and then activate the idle stabilization below 750 RPM adding 7º to the 15º which puts me at the 22º just like you, but when I pull it outta gear and the RPM go back above 750, my timing drops to 15º and the idle is nice again. My WOT timing, for now, I'm playing it safe. I have a Livorsi knock sensor that I plan to wire into the DS box to at some point to remove timing, but for now I'm being careful and will creep up on the WOT timing after logging and viewing some data.
Steve

Good eye bro! Actually, twisted off the lower shaft which threw the lower shafts' gear into the case. I was heading up to Topoc Gorge from Lake Havasu and did one too many 50mph to 85mph blasts and I believe the midrange got me. Oil was also dark, so my bad for not changing it sooner. Since Max Machine Worx rebuild, change every 10-12 hours using Alisyn pro gear 21 type 3 75w-90 which is what MMWX used.

Dan, how are you getting your max load being 44-4500? what if fuel level & peeps in boat is different, and/or (maybe you don't) change pitch of props? Or say your running hard with drives neutral & tabs a bit down? Just trying to understand
