540CI builds, MAX RPM?
I am doing my homework getting things figured out, what is a good goal rpm for 540? the last ones topped out at 5200 with tiny cams, I wanna get more hp and redoing cams, I was told 5800-6000 is a good goal number for the 700 hp mark goal...
I will be using good parts and perfect balancing, dart blocks and all that... not sure how propping would be for old TRS Mistress and a 10,000lb boat..getting ideas together I was gonna shoot for 5500 but a buddy says the higher rpm will be easier on my drives... I want real world advice here nit guessing, I wanna do this one time!
biggest thing is the higher rpm any kind of issue longevity of cylinder wall wear? things like that?

These are some of Bob Madara's words to me when I was considering building a 540ci . Coming from Bob you can take these words as gospel . " Your 700 hp target , from a 540ci displacement platform is absolutely doable . The majority of our 540 engine platforms are all dynoing between 685 and 725 hp , under 6000 rpm . The key components in making your target are going to be the induction system , cylinder heads and valve train . " I hope this helps to answer your question with information straight from the horses mouth .

I didnt buy these parts, I bought engines and got fukked so I am reusing whats good and fixing anything wrong....
buying all new Dart short deck blocks, Scat or eagle rotating assembly, all balanced and made perfect ..
I am working on getting head numbers all I know now are Pro Comp PC-3010-454-0603 part nbumber, I cant find much but seem to be 310CC runner and I know the chambers are 118CC supposed to be 9.5:1
Intakes are a single plane chinese dart intakes for 4150 carbs as of now I have 800HP500 carbs (will change later after I get engines going)
cams now are attached sheet. same as dyno sheet I can get cams that are more agressive that made good numbers or get some ground... ones I can get 242/ 112LSA .630 lift... made 690hp@6000 in a 540..
