So I should shut the engine off before I disengage the blades....

Seriously why are people so bent out of shape about engines. Run dry exhaust then it don't matter what kind of engine is under the hatch. Lmmfao.

Probably a good reason why some of the old school offshore engine builders would overbuild stuff. Constant load in calm water doesn't worry me nearly as much as romping it in big water. From the engines to the drives, to my elbow !

Look at the bottom end of a high hp 2 stroke ...Rods and bolts are tiny ..The only time the rod bolts make a big difference is when the rod has to pull the piston down ,which is every other stroke on a four stroke, and never on a proper running two stroke

Hey not trying to start anything at all like Ferguson III since II was last nite and 1 was the other nite. But if Borgie has some good info from Callies I would not mind to have it in a learning and or tech format posting if you know what I mean. Heck I try hard to post problem solving replies info up here but still like everyone else what to gather some good info to. That's it. Peace.

Who cares about 2-strokes. We are talking about offshore engines here. Every other form of motor sports has no factor/relevancy to an offshore big block.

So I've been told.

So now that we got lawn mower racing out of the way let's talk lower ends. Only offshore boats need stout lower ends.
Reversion? Dude take your Ritalin or Adderall and stay on topic!

Joe, thinking OSO is changing and not for the better. It used to be a place to discuss what works and discussing theories. Apparently now it's prove your right by destroying any opinion with useless information. Even if you have no idea what your talking about. If your looking for cam discussions (in a lower end thread) and lawnmower talk, then this douche bag your man.

Hopefully OSO will get back to a resource soon.

Would it be a true statement that the film strength of your oil , oil pressure/volume and your choice of rod bearing/clearance will absorb some of said stresses before being transferred to the rod bolts . If you were to stretch a rod bolt from on/off throttling I would think you have already damaged the bearing first ?
