Hey not trying to start anything at all like Ferguson III since II was last nite and 1 was the other nite. But if Borgie has some good info from Callies I would not mind to have it in a learning and or tech format posting if you know what I mean. Heck I try hard to post problem solving replies info up here but still like everyone else what to gather some good info to. That's it. Peace.
Them simply saying "its OK" doesn't necessarily cut it for me. While I think Callie's makes a great product, I do not consider them God when it comes to rod bolts, especially in their China series of rods. With that being said , I doubt they would use the L19 exclusively in their rods if it was an issue. But, If I had a dollar for every company tech line who's recommendation was bogus, I'd be a rich man, def not a truck driver. I'm sure you've seen plenty of marine engines that have ingested a bit of water at some point . if the moisture is a problem for those bolts, I'd be worried. Seems like a lot of the builders use ARP2000, and when those aren't enough, they skip the L19s and go right to the custom age bolts. That is IF the rod can handle them. Which some rods simply can't physically take the additional clamping force needed to take advantage of the better bolts. |

Would it be a true statement that the film strength of your oil , oil pressure/volume and your choice of rod bearing/clearance will absorb some of said stresses before being transferred to the rod bolts . If you were to stretch a rod bolt from on/off throttling I would think you have already damaged the bearing first ?

Or better yet call Merc funny how things have change with the tech help line especially for dealers.

Have to ask as I know at one time Eagle had some problems and I can not remember 100% but I think it was with crankshafts not rods Correct - is there still problems with their cranks and how about their rods ? .
