I was distracted and handcranked the motor over a couple times without having put oil on the bearing.

When I pulled the bearing back out it had this little wear spot.....

It looks more like a piece of dirt behind the bearing which causes a small wear spot . Lack of oil usually is not point loaded like that. But hey what do I know? Lol

That's a possibility too. This wasn't a final assembly - was just trying a rented spring compressor and got carried away.

I boogerred up an oil ring so the last piston isn't going in anyways today I was just wondering if I should grab an extra bearing set or if this was okay to reuse.....

Use it.

If nothing is stuck in it or sticking up its fine.
Or if you will always be thinking you should of changed it than do it now. LOL

Thinking about that some more find out why that's happening if its the bearing or something else. Better to be safe than broken.

You really don't want to pull the motor out again for some thing like that------- change the bearing out and be done with it,,Also check the crank out------------ and make sure that what ever you are doing in that engine that everything be operating room clean and spotless,no dirt, no dirt, no dirt !
Good luck

get the piece of dirt off the back side and run it.

Tinkerer 01-04-2015 09:34 PM

IF it was a problem with the crank it would have been a streak or line on the bearing not a spot. The problem is with the bearing or dirt under it. If you don't find anything stuck to the back side replace the bearing.

Baja Rooster 01-05-2015 12:35 AM

I'd replace it only because I would always be wondering about it in the back of my mind for the first hundred hours.

seafordguy 01-05-2015 05:59 AM

I think I'm going to just replace it. I don't want to come this far and have something like this bother me....

Thanks guys
