HP500 Carb Camshaft. 222/230, .576/.598 110LSA
500EFI camshaft 230/236 .598/.610 114LSA I wonder what was behind Merc's choice on the HP500 cam. They were known for reversion with the 110LSA. One of the only cams I've seen in a mercruiser/mercury racing engine with a 110LSA. |

Hmm lots to think about I found a set of 088 heads with 30 hours on them for 450. I am thinking about going with the 500efi cam. I know I will need to change out springs to match the roller cam. But will I see any real gains with the 500efi vs the 420 cam

Ok let me know. I will go round some more change up from the furniture
i have a 500 efi cam for 200. plus the ride, the gen6 roller lifters and the dogbones and pushrods from a 502 mag for xtra 50 bucks.
So mike 150 for everything I pay shipping :fear:
Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think that the gen 6 roller lifters will work in the gen 5 block with out some machining/modifications. For it to be a put in and play you need the retro fit or "bar" type of lifters to prevent the lifters from rotating in the lifter bores. I know on the gen 6 the "dog bones" prevent this from happening but from what I understand the gen 5 had no where to install the dog bones as the top of the lifter bores( inside the valley) do not have a machined surface for them to sit and no spot for the retainer to bolt to. Can anyone confirm this
gen 5 needs the tie bar,I just have to check that I have a full set.people like to borrow my left over parts.:(
Sutphen let me know I want to do the 500 efi cam and rockers
i believe some gen 5's have the surfaces for the dog bones and mounting holes for the spiders already done to them from the factory. i assume you have the intake off and are sure yours does not?
No I have not it is still together. I am collecting parts right now. I am going to start to rip it down in the next few weeks
for some reason i thought you had a gen6.the lifters and dog bones from a gen6 won,t work in a gen5.
then i may take them for my gen 6. guy said it didn't have 150 hours on it, but the gluck built up on the back of intake valves says mucho more time than that.
