There's no doubt that you can make a ton of power with a whipple. Here is a video I dug up of 502 mpi with 2.3L side mount whipple done by Eddie Young. "The engine is stock other than a cam change, extrude honed intake, cometic head gaskets, Inconel exhaust valves and a Mefi 4 ecm and harness."
