Default cooling water questions

I have a few questions about cooling water for my 27 Magnum restification project. I am running twin Volvo SP drives with about 400-450HP each, and have raised the X 2". I am running closed cooling with 2 small block Chrysler engines. I am going to run antifreeze through the manifolds, and the raw water through the exchangers and out through the risers.

1. At what speed do I need to start worrying about too much inlet pressure? I'm not expecting much over 70 MPH with the boat, if that...

2. Is there any advantage to running transom pickups over the ones in the drives?

3. Are Strainers only needed with transom pickups? I assume they would be good insurance even when using the pickups in the drives.

1- it happens when it happens, gotta test and tune

2- I dunno

3- A strainer is pretty much always a good idea.

If you install a regulator with a dump, over pressure is a non issue.
As far as a strainer goes, it can't hurt , but the water you boat in determines if you really need one.
