Oh it was yours. Thanks Dan for posting dyno sheet. Did you leave the AFR's like that while in the boat? I run mine the same as you have ( 11.4 to 11.8), I think that Mike & Joe like AFR's a little fatter.

i like them a little richer on the higher hp engines running more boost,the closer you get to the ragged edge the more it can use the xtra cooling.i have innercoolers but i am thinking about adding a water/meth system.

ok..school me guys.... I get how water/meth works and why. My confusion comes from application. We are dealing with endurance motors in hostile environments. it can save a motor running on the edge but why would you want to run an offshore motor that far on the edge?? In a failure laden environment why would you want to add complexity with a pretty much assured catastrophic engine failure is something were to go wrong with the added complexity? We arent drag racing or blasting corner to corner, we are aiming for the horizon miles away. What am I missing?

Normal cruise I'm around 12.0-12.4. I'm sure I could lean it back out, but I see no reason to. Slower speed and more chance of hurting something. Transom is always clean. That couple extra jet sizes isn't gonna wash the rings out of it at 5800rpm either. You should try a little more timing in your engines with a little more fuel this summer . if I remember you only running 28* total? It might pick up a little. I noticed with less timing and less fuel, was a slower boat. |

Theres 2 ways to do it, run meth (it`s like raising the octane to 116) and turn up boost accordingly or don`t do anything just run water to bring the intake temps way down and run it like extra insurance.
For me I`d need 4 nozzles per motor , have it come in @ 4-5 psi. That could be quite a bit of meth thats why i was thinking of running straight lake water and never run out. |
Straight lake water from the intercooler strainer; fyi, Hardin's is 60 micron, the screen in most nozzles is 80 to 100.
You will need to clean out the hard water deposits once in a while though. |

Just some food for thought.. At about 1400 hp on 91oct with 18psi on 9 to 1 I was burning about 12gph of 50/50 water meth. The meth output is proportional with boost on a good kit. Doing some quick math, you will probably go through a lot of methanol.
Earlier post was correct, blue washer fluid is about 35% so you will use that much more.. If you were creative you would have a tank for straight meth with its own pump and nozzle and a pump and nozzle for the water thereby making the mix with nozzle sizing. That would cut cost and the tank size down a lot. Just remember the weight of water is different from water when sizing your nozzles. |
