Fuel Pump Question 548 ci with 256 blower
I'm working on a 540 (548) all refreshed, with a wieand 256 supercharger (dual carb set on on top, Holley blower carbs)
There is a mechanical fuel pump on top of the raw water pump, I believe it is a stocker (and it was on it prior to the rebuilds so it ran that way for some period of time) root cause of failure was a valve dropped into the cyl the blower pressure is 4lbs ish (not huge boost) Heads Are grumpy jenkins Cam jb300 erson And the engine is stroked...4.25 crank The combo seemed to work well Which fuel pump should I be using, I was told that I would need to go electric, I would believe I could get a mechanical that would support it and not have to redo the plumbing I was told that these engines had alot of hours on them (I also know that they came from a sonic some years ago maybe built in 96 in the past perhaps somewhere on the east coat prior to transplant into the boat that I'm working on now) |

Just take any Holley pump that screws together and use the bottom half with the mercruiser top half. Works great

Cv makes a mechanical pump goes right to your see water pump that's a what I use
|
personally I never cared for the merc water/fuel pump combo, prefer something like a aeromotive A1000

there is only 1 battery in the boat, and really dont want to re-plumb the system, so at this point electric is out, as they eat 10 amps combined while running (real world amps)
