New SCARAB 31' EXCEL!!!!!!
Just sold my Formula 242ls last month, and picked up a new to me 31' Scarab Excel today! It has basically stock 454 mags, and seems to run great! I have a pair of whipples I am gonna put on it, but will probably wait till this season is over cause I will be making quite a few changes over this winter anyway. My question is, for now, what type of props do you guys think I should be running? It has 21p Mirage plus props on it now, and it jumps on plane ok and topped out around 60mph gps. Unfortunately I didn't happen to check the rpms, it was cold and raining and we were only out for a minute, so I know it's hard to make a recommendation without that info... But it seems like a boat this heavy with twins would run better with 4 blades, don't you think? Anyone else out there running a basically stock 31' Excel? Any info is greatly appreciated. (Btw, I know "this thread is usless without pics", lol, but I tried loading pics over and over, and can't get **** to load... been down this road before with pic loading problems, tried from 2 different cameras and tried to reduce their sizes, it just isn't happening)

Congrats GMG! Good to hear it worked out.
The Mirage 21 is most likely the props that came on the boat. You could lose a couple mph with a 4b Bravo one, but cruise should be better, with better overall performance.
Bravo 1 22" would be a good start until you add HP.
Congrats.

Try a set of Mercury Revolution 4 blades. Most older boats, have deep propshafts. Going to a large diameter 4 blade, usually hurts top speed. The revolution props are small diameter, (compared to a bravo or hydromotive) and work really well on a lot of older hulls with deep props. Id try a set of 21P revolutions on it.
