Everybody that sees this boat tells me how much they love the paint color & scheme... it's funny cause I think it's uglier then a big ol ' pile of dog f***! Lol oh well it will get wrapped soon enough. Anyway, I took it out today and ran it for a bit, and it topped out at 60.1 mph, that was in glass smooth water, 21p Mirage + props, and with the trim set at number 5 (seems to get the most RPM at that level), it was spinning 5100 rpms. I have a set of 23p Mirage non-plus props I just got but didn't have a chance to try them today. One tach was saying 4700 while the other one was at 5100, but the one at 4700 was flicking all over the place all day so it may be f'ed up. What do you guys think of those speeds/numbers? They match or seem kinda slow? Obviously that's way to slow for me and I'll be fixing that soon as well, lol, but for now maybe the 23's could get me closer to 65? Idk I guess I'll have to punch in the numbers and see if I'm getting to much prop slip with the 21s or not

Just got off the river yesterday trying out the new props, at first it was running 21p Mirage + props and was turning 5100 rpms @ 60 gps (2 people, 1/4 tank)... yesterday I put on 23p Mirage non-plus props, and the best it did was 4950 rpms @ 60 gps (4 people, 1/2 tank)... so basically same speed but I had more weight in it this time. Also with the 23s it was WAY sensative getting on plane, it would blow the props off if you weren't real careful and gradual. It also wasted to carry the bow really high unless the drives were tucked all the way in. It seems like everyone with stock 31' excels run 3 blades, but I want something to get on plane better, get the stern up more while cruising, and drop the rpms. You really think I would lose much top end if I went with 22 or 24 4-blade? It seems like it would run better with them. Any chance of gaining any mph with them?

I'll try to grab some later today, I'm gonna be redoing a few things in it soon, apparently these boats weren't set up for people with drinking problems as there is only ONE cupholder in the cockpit! Lol got any ideas for props for me? It will be getting whipples soon which will put it right at about what your hp500s put out... what are you running?

I had a 91 scarab 31 with 502's and ran both stock 27p mirage plus and lab finished 28p bravos. Ran 77-78 consistently on the top end with either prop but getting on plane and mid range was much better with the 4 blade bravo's. With the lab finished 28's the boat would come on plane effortlessly at about 1900 rpm... a good friend owns that boat now and he loves it as much as I did.. 31 scarab is a great all around boat.

I wouldn't expect this boat to run that fast with stock power, but 60 just seems sluggish. So basically I need some steeper props... I'm gonna hunt down some 4 blades. What rpms were you turning?

I'm running 25p 3 blade mirage props and I'm getting about 76mph with a full tank of fuel and 2 people in it. I have been contemplating switching to a set of 4 blades !!!
