Be glad they use that slip ring. PO didn't change the lube - ever it seemed. What came out was almost pure gas (the pumps all leak a small amount) and metal from the ring. Much cheaper than replacing the shaft.

Yep, gotta change the oil every year. It's nice to know that they have that "bearing" in there though. I'd suggest upgrading to a Hardin pump body and throwing away the plastic one while you're at it.

ok guys, I know I will get a TX style behind the shed beat down for this, but I'm confused by the title of this thread.
I know of the mechanical fuel pump and the sea water pump (with impeller) on the 525's, but the thread title intermingles the two. I saved that pic of the Hardin product, isnt that where the fuel filter spins on where that aluminum tubing is, below that little nipple. If not obvious, I'm a first time 525 owner.... |
