Default adjusting valves with intake manifold installed?

I've read up thoroughly on how to adjust the valves on my BBC and am familiar with it, but my issue is with actually getting a hand on some of the intake push rods to get zero lash as is so tight to the head castings, and I can't get into the motor with the intake manifold installed....
Any ideas or suggestions to make it easier than pulling the manifold?
Thanks!
Chris

Roller Rockers or stamped? With poly locks, you should be able to hand turn the nut down until it gets resistance or until you can't wiggle the rocker up at the pushrod. With stamped I would just go until you can't wiggle the rocker up.
