Default How to tell if transmission is going out

I had a oil pressure issue. Fixed pick up. But needless to say was on the water and about half throttle cruising along I hear a big chirp boat dips to left then starts off again. back out of throttles or not chirps then grabs and gets going again
Is this a sign that my tranny is starting to fail. Oil looks good doesn't smell burnt
Sorry it's a 85 Scarab with TRS drives
Thanks

Steve

Borg warner transmission. Any ideas on what to check. I have a spare but don't want to pull motor if I don't have to

Thanks

when they go will start slipping getting on plane...or just cruising along, usually sets off a high trans temp alarm about the same time...not much in those to make noise, auto trans type cluthes...

oil pressure in trans? or engine?

do you run pressure gauges? normally once they slip that's it, game over.... very rare they last after that.... sure it's trans bogging it? not ignition or wiring issue??
