Hello
Thanks to all for your meanings! And i happy to get more infos about best setup for my boat,as i try to hold it for next years!
I made engine (new 8.2 with CMI and Whiplle PCM) and all technic new last 2 years! So also transom and complet steering from rear to front is new.thats why i like to have only an Add-On steering. the mayfair has option to make later second cylinder at other side and i like design from the mount on the Drive,as it fit on my swept back upper without any mods.
Of cours it is a matter of price, why i like to take first only one cylinder, but maybe later i add second.
The Price for add-on with only one is much lower and i like also to buy long trim tabs next time ,as no one on my boat.
When i buy steering with 2 cylinders,i think no money for Tab this winter!!
So what you mean is bets to do first??
anyone drive the Mayfair stuff?
And i understand not rela the problem with one ram and gimble trouble and not balanced!!??
Thanks for help!
Fact is that a dealer here in germany has an mayfair for sale with single cylinder but new and all complet! that makes it more easy to take this .all other i must import from usa!

I use Imco dual ram on my boat, Imco's service is second to none. Ron at Imco will walk you thru any problems you have installing your system. If you call and get the answering machine he calls back and for me that speaks volumes.

I shopped all brands and I went with The Mayfair Full Hydraulic Steering System sold by CP Performance and am very happy with it

Other than Latham, Mayfair is top of the line stuff. Not to knock IMCO as they are great as well. But if you have Mayfair available local to you I would not hesitate. Brett May the original producer of Mayfair steering is now with Everett Performance (Zeiger). We had the first Mayfair sterring on our old race boat Rascal and it was still in perfect working order when we sold the boat 23 years later.

I don't see why your 496 pump would not work with 2 cylinders. I can turn my boat (full Latham system) without having the engine running pretty easily. Would recommend full system rather than add on night and day difference.

Are here some Guys with 496 or newer 8.2 Mag HO that use Dual Ram add-on steering?
The newer engines have other servopumps with seperate oil reservoir.
Not like the older pumps that was complet.
Real like to know if this new pumps work with 2 rams as someone here in Germany say it did only work with one ram!
They have test at one engine. But maybe this pump was not ok ??
Hope some guys can tell me it will work with 2 cylinders.

The deal with Imco cylinders did not work! When i get,i see that they send 2 diffrent. So i send back the parts!
Now is clear that i buy an Mayfair Addon steering Dualram for single Bravo!I love design of their Wingplate most and it only must srew on Upper!
Only thing tha not clear for me is what version i need, means what version is better for me!
They have 2 Version with diffrent mounting size from middle of the drive!
The version with longer cylinders and mounting location more outside is 160 dollar lower from price!
And i real dont know what works better?why are 2 versions???
Can anyone answer this question? Thanks for your help!
Best regards
michael
(Ram Mounting Location is 17-3/4" from the side of the Gimbal Housing)
(Ram Mounting Location is 9" from the side of the Gimbal Housing)
