not floating,thats a bad thing for the ecu and sensors,,he means a different solid ground point and usually have it go back to the battery terminal.ground loop noise is always a problem w/ high energy ignitions,just trying to keep that noise in check.

Separate by not putting any of the EFI or ECM ground wires on the same bolt or stud as any other systems grounds especially if the other ground has a relay in it. The head or block are good isolators and normally have a few extra threaded holes that are not being used. More important than any of it is to run the main +/- for the ECM directly to the battery no mater how far away it is.

Marine efi is either very basic or very expensive. The underlying speed bump is a wet exhaust system OS sensors don't play well so your left with speed density..... Which means a carb jetted properly is going to do just as well at about 1/5 the cost......well pretty close to that.
