I am leaning toward the 8-71 kit without a chiller. The plan is to keep boost under 8 psi and use good fuel. I have an XR on this new boat and arcticfriends is going to go through it and add cryo treated gears and whatever mods he does.

sounds like a good plan to me. Should not be a problem with a low compression setup like the 575, even without the intercooler. Icdedppl's 10-71's on his 540s, whether at 6,7, or 8psi, always stay at about 150* intake air temp at wide open throttle.

Is this the boat? If so, nice rig. If it has not had head gaskets now is the time! Also, if it is out of the boat you could swap the cam...if you do not swap the cam make sure you use oil high in zinc to save your cam.

Yes, that is the boat.I don't plan to change the cam until rebuild time. I use Mobil One V Twin 20w50, it has a lot of zinc. I used it for 10 seasons in the last boat with a 525sc and had no oil related issues. I thought only the 01 and 02 engines had head gasket issues?

The only thing i would say in this particular situation is a whipple might be a option because the b&m 250 does not really put a strain on the oe forged single key with dampner set up you prob have now.
Not saying crank snout failure- keyway twist is imminent but it can and has happened when you slap one of those 200 pound roots on a unprepped rotating assy. And its a mojo killer.

I like the Whipple option as well. Much more efficient at 7-8 pounds boost no intercooler needed. lower profile to fit under your current hatch. Very little downside other than maybe price.
