Default AFR 265 Heads any thoughts/experiences

Debating between having my 781's completely reworked (2.17/1.88 port/blend/bowl work) or just buying a set of the AFR 265 "as cast" setup.
Anybody running the AFR? I would be interested in how they worked for you.
At only $600 difference after I sell the 781s that should be only $200-300 total dif. Don't want to waste money but don't want to leave inexpensive power ignored.
Looking forward to hear any thoughts. Thank you.

I would go with the aftermarket heads. Comparable heads, that will perform similar to the 265 AFR, if you are looking for a smaller oval port smaller chamber cc head.

Trick Flow 280 has 113cc chamber

Dart 275 has 110cc chamber

Brodix 270 110cc chamber

What is you base engine build? Is this the last engine you plan on building? If these are for a 454 cool, but what if you eventually want to build a 502/540/557 or 565? You then need to step up to another head. Why not buy an AFR 305/315 or 325 now and leave room for future builds. I could be way off base, just my thoughts.

NO MATTER WHAT, you buy bare and have assembled.... then you know exactly what you have, I am happy with my AFR, but should have had them built...

This should be it for the foreseeable future.

I put a set of them on my 525sc upgrade, did a cam, and head combo through Bob, and made 689.4hp and 675ft lbs of tq with a set of partially cnc'd 265 AFR's. No complaints here so far after 1 season on them.
