Did you give the lifter enough time to bleed down first time around? Sometimes it can take a minute.
Hyd lifters on solid cams is done all the time. They're called hybrids.

Everyone who works at Bullet cams are morons.

Coming from a guy who has made a living burning his engines in his boat down , losing control of it, flipped over, crashes into rocks, tells people to moubt their intercooler pickup behind the step in the hull, and jumps down anyones neck who questions his "cam guy" ...

Its ok for him to blast bullet cams , but not ok for anyone to talk about his cam guy. We need more guys like him in the offshore community.

$6000 engine oil pan, and what outdrive on the 26ft donzi ?

Weeks of piddling with it I was done. Called every cam company in the United States some you've never even heard of and everyone told me you can't run a hydraulic lifter on a solid cam unless you have lash at the valve. Based on my findings I would tend to agree with them. To my knowledge this is why Comp and Morel came out with the HLT lifters. With only .005 plunger travel you could lash the valve and run a solid cam. These setups were directed towards Class racing that had rules where a Hydraulic lifter had to be used.

1. I didn't say everyone was a moron.
2. Everyone (well maybe 5 out of 10) people that boat on the river I do hit the rock pile.
3. Never burnt an engine (have blown up a few) but that's what happens when you put everything on tilt
4. Never lost control
5. Never flipped
6. Many manufactures mount behind the step (Outer limits was 21' forward of the transom behind the step)
7. $1000 oil Pan
8. I was thinking Aplha unless you in your endless knowledge had a better idea.

All this cause Joe is still butt hurt that Eddie didn't take Joes suggestion of using a 305 head on his 525. Now Joe is going to use social media and all means necessary to put Bob out of business. And how did we go from Engine Developer to Cam Designer? Which is it?

Oh yes, ealeash. I remember that. That was right before your obsession with bob, and you had told me all about ealeash, and his incapable boat driving skills. And bob telling me what a hack job his wngine builder was going to do, by attempting to modify the port openings on the 265 afrs to match his intake.

You bashing ealeash,, bob bashing ealeash, and his / your engine builder. Was it cms that was building ealeashes engine ?

Lol, your whole crew is a farce, and yet you guys go around bum wrapping people like bullet cams, bob teague, etc. Keep trying those drag race engines in your donzi, that program works well for you. Believe it or not, there are some guys who can put together twin 800,900,1000+ hp engine combos, and go boating very weeekend with the wife and kids.

It very well could have. It was a Bullet/ Morris Cam. I didn't install or degree the cam. By the time I got to it motor was in the boat. I thought initially the cam was installed wrong. So I used the degrees on the balancer and a dial indicator on the pushrods to make sure it was installed correctly everything checked out fine (my initial thought was that it was installed teeth off on the timing gear). Using the method above I determined it was installed properly. Don't know that I could have checked run out that way and didn't even think to at the time. Had another cam overnighted put installed it next evening after work and went boating. I still have that cam laying around somewhere...

I didn't get any of that information from Bob. Actually I was the one that told Bob what was going on with that whole ordeal. So if that makes me the bad guy. So be it. I'm bad.
