What do you think about this engine in the calasifieds 1209HP

BBC 632ci 1209HP MARINE RACING ENGINE
This thing has some big steam. I would love to see how much compression it has and camshaft size.:food-smiley-007::fear:

Black Baja 11-22-2015 06:49 PM

Gonna need around 7500 rpm

MILD THUNDER 11-22-2015 06:56 PM

I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be a "pump gas" build. Not sure what components would make it a "marine" engine. Maybe its the stellings headers?

Yes I would even think higher rpm than that,

MILD THUNDER 11-22-2015 07:06 PM

His dyno sheet shows that 1209 at 6900 :bigbird:

http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...ne-o63972.html

I would think 14-15:1 range?

Yes would have to be in the 14-15 range. Those ports have intake volume of 440cc they are huge, I was going to buy them until I saw the runner CCs. That's why I went with the spread port heads at 416CCs.

Arent those heads designed so the port is actually "longer" runner design, therefore making the intake a larger volume? Requiring the "special" intake manifold? Read about them on the interweb a while back. I think I used google search engine.

14 apache 11-22-2015 07:28 PM

I know the port is raised on them but I still think they are huge inside. It was originally built for a tire size class racing with big rpm.

Black Baja 11-22-2015 08:14 PM

The ports on the Sr20 are huge it is a "conventional head" and needs lots or RPM to work even on a 632. 11.5:1 would make that power with that head. There are some Head Hunters going around now with a 410cc port (very similar to the new Profiler 410) that will make 1250hp with 12:1@ 7400 rpm

offshorexcursion 11-22-2015 08:47 PM

Wow interesting engine!

In their defense I think they specialize in white water jet boat racing.......

Do you think that engine in question really made that power at 6900 with those heads ?

Will those heads make that power absolutely. But not at 6900 rpm

ICDEDPPL 11-22-2015 09:16 PM

Damn that "correction factor" !!!! GRRR!!!

phragle 11-22-2015 09:27 PM

So those heads wont work on my 454??? Even with a Bob Straub cam??

The White's (company name is their last name - not for white water racing) actually brought ProComp into Ebay. Everything ProComp on E-Bay foryears was them . The engine builder/machinist(Fred) is the Uncle, the parts seller was the nephew. (Skip)

I do hold that against them, but I do not know how good of an engine shop Fred White's is.

donzi matt 11-22-2015 09:38 PM

I'd trust that dyno sheet about as much as I trust a fart when I have the flu.

LOL. The picture is funny.

At 6900 I come up with 1013hp as measured by the brake, ie: before correction. After correction 1209.

No schit, I've seen big chiefs on 496's and 505's. At National Level car shows. LOL.

I really have no clue what the purpose of your post was?

Pretty common sense that the company's name is the family's last name, none of that pertains to my post, nor changes the fact that they might sell "Marine" engines to other forms of boat racing besides offshore endurance racing. So no matter what the engine actually makes for power, do you disagree that it might be more applicable in "white water rapids jet boat racing"?

SB 11-22-2015 10:20 PM

I was giving info. Not just to you, but whomever that may not have known.

It appeared you took the "White's Racing" and assumed for whitr water jet boat racing.

Again, I was just putting info out there. That's all.

SB 11-22-2015 10:22 PM

BTW: I know nothing about white water jet boat racing. Love the videos though and would love to watch one live. That's for damn sure.

offshorexcursion 11-22-2015 10:22 PM

It's all good, interesting engine and company though!

That's great glad he is not ill or dead. Hope to see him back on here again.

I inquired back some time back myself. He was a good contributor to OSO. Prolly got sick of some of the drama a while back.
