Default Adjusting the shifter...

Ok, last night a fellow board member was trying to explain to me how to adjust the shifter. Because I score zero on compency tests, I didn't understand what he was trying to tell me. Anybody else want to try their luck? This on a new installation that's never been adjusted.

If you have the shift cable that runs to the outdrive out of the boat there is a tool that you use to adust where the cable needs to be.

I have the tool to set the cable with the drive off. Ive never done one with the drive on except by experimentation. If you want to borrow the tool, Ill send it to you.

I had heard that there was a tool to use for adjusting the shifter. Unfortinatly, I didn't realize that the drive had to be off. Actually the engine is going to be fire tomorrow and hopefully it'll be on the water by mid week.

Is there a way that I can adjust it so that I could launch the boat, putter around in the bay and maybe try to get on plane? No hard runs yet. I could then go up to the dealer for a final adjustment during the week.

Formula-thanks for the offer! That's really great of you, but as you can see I have constrainst that won't make it feasible. Sure do appreciate the offer!

Thanks for the offer! Do I need to have the engine running before I call? My hope is to have it running on Saturday. Hope that'll be OK.

no, but you will need someone there to rotate the wheel while you attempt to shift
