Here is what I did with my 38 Cigarette with 1100hp PSI blower motors. In my opinion, you get the best of both worlds. It is quiet around the marina and when on plane the "noise" is directed downward between the drives and non-muffled. Your only drawback may be if the motors are staggered and the drives are close together you may not have enough room to have 4ea 4" stainless pipes in a row. Maybe you could "stack" them in a square configuration?? It worked on my boat and after I did this, I stopped getting looks and noise tickets.

I ran CMI clamp on mufflers on my 4.5 inch dry pipes. Water dumped thru slits at the end and helped cool the muffler. Worked great but most of the time I kept them off

Congratulation on the boat, very nice setup. I would go with the CMI Aft fires. They are switchable mufflers that work very well with dry or wet exhaust. They give the best of both worlds. http://www.custommarine.com/images/p...ernalsound.jpg

Thanks to all you guys for the input, I believe she is running Stelling's headers, I will look into all of these options. Don't hate the sound, just know it is too loud, not just a social problem, don't wanna scare the grand kids!

I don`t know bananarama, I got the same type of muffler and if I don`t feed them enough water the thing distorts and won`t open anymore.
Had to do surgery to one last summer, she got too hot.

The only trouble with switchable mufflers is they are illegal in some states, That is why the exhaust on my 38 Cigarette was the best of all worlds, in my opinion.

You are very correct about that. And after ICDEDPPL , brought to my attention that information about his Aft Fires, I would then absolutely go the route you went. Completely legal, quite when at idle, and no power loss at all. May I also add nothing to burn out, raddle, and they sure look nice.

Sometimes it`s nice to have it quiet around the docks but the Tim Allen in me usually keeps em open anyway. You gotta let people know whats up, you can`t be coming in with a blower motor , race hatch boat sounding like a crownline. You rattle peoples teeth, that`s what we do, if they don`t like it well then they should go back to their sailboat.
