Mayfair external steering kit
Looking for a full external steering kit for use with twin Bravos.
The Mayfair Modular Wing Plate kit caught my eye, but looks like there may be some issues installing it.
Using the measurements from the Hardin site, there's either a 9" or 17.75" option for mounting to the transom.
There's no way I can use the 17.75" option since the boat is not wide enough. The 9" option will wind up on the top corner of the tab plate.
If I mount cylinders on the inside of the drives, I could use the 9" option, but doesn't look like I'll be able to mount a tie bar to the wing plate.
I would have to use my current tie bar which is down by the trim cylinders. From what I have read, it's much better to have the tie bar at the top so drives don't get a twisting force applied to them, accelerating wear on the gimbles.
Is there any way around this?
Thx in adv.
